Testimonials

"The more I read the more I fought against the assumption that literature is for the minority – of a particular education or class. Books were my birthright too."
Jeanette Winterson, Why be happy when you could be normal?

"You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them."
Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451

At The Reading Agency we run a range of reading programmes that help children, young people and adults become more confident readers so that they have equal opportunities in life. Because everything changes when we read.

We are delighted that World Book Night is now one of those programmes and are looking forward to reaching out to more readers and building further on the enthusiasm of book giver volunteers. We will use our connections with libraries, publishers and other partners to support your commitment and provide other options for getting involved in community reading volunteering for those of you that are keen to do that.

On World Book Night

I'm so delighted to be involved with World Book Night. A book is the best way I know to escape from the world, and it's a privilege to be able to give that experience to others. I hope all the books that are given away are truly relished - happy reading!
